Small essays about faith and life to lift your spirit and give you hope.

Special Note:

As the winter of 2019-20 gave over to spring, the world came face-to-face with COVID-19. This deadly new coronavirus crept into our lives so quickly and pervasively that we've had scant time to come to grips with one change before another comes along.  Understandably, this has created lots of uncertainty and fear, especially since there's little understanding about when it may end.  So ... I believe that we need all the Light we can get.             - bf

Light is all around us ...

Picture
Even at night.  Several years ago, two of my grandsons and I were out after midnight. Splashes of moonlight sifted through the trees onto the driveway, creating an eerie, mottled effect. The boys were frightened (they were three and five at the time). I was transfixed. The diffuse light reminded me that even during our darkest times, when all may appear lost, there is Light to show us the way, Light that hides in the shadows. Light that slips between words in our conversation and lingers transcendent in the air, Light that surrounds and embraces us at all times, even amid our darkest trials.

It is this Light that can be found sprinkled throughout the small essays on this site. My prayer is that you not only will enjoy the writing but perhaps also find a touch of the Divine in these heartfelt reflections, particularly during times of societal and personal challenge.  If one of my essays brings you hope, please forward it to others who may need to hear of Christ's living Light.

I appreciate your thoughts and comments.
